[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Fluor Corporation announced that it has safely achieved mechanical completion of Valvoline\u2019s new lubricants blending plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, China, ahead of schedule. Fluor\u2019s\u00a0scope of work\u00a0on the project included detailed engineering, procurement and construction management executed under a lump-sum services contract.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Strategically located, the new 80,000-square-metre lube blending and packaging facility is Valvoline\u2019s largest plant investment to date \u2013 and its first in China \u2013 supplying more than 30 million gallons (115 million litres) of finished lubricants and coolants per year for both passenger car and heavy-duty vehicle customers.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\u201cWe have been privileged to work with Valvoline and support its efforts to meet the growing automotive market in China,\u201d said Mark Fields, president of Fluor\u2019s Energy & Chemicals business. \u201cEven during the challenges of the global pandemic, Fluor was able to maintain progress and deliver the project safely, on budget and ahead of schedule. Congratulations to the entire project team on this remarkable achievement.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The project began in October 2018. More than 600 workers were on site at peak during construction, and no lost-time incidents were recorded over the duration of the project.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Fluor\u2019s Shanghai office led the project with its Cebu, Philippines, location providing support as needed.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Valvoline Inc., based in Lexington, Ky., U.S.A., said at the time of the project announcement in May 2018, that it expected to invest approximately USD70 million (RMB 443 million). This represented Valvoline\u2019s single largest lube blending plant investment worldwide, the company said.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\u201cCapturing opportunities for volume and premium product growth in key international markets is an essential strategy for the company,\u201d said Sam Mitchell, chief executive officer, said at the time of the announcement.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\u201cThis new plant is an investment in China and its rapidly growing demand for high-quality lubricants and coolants to meet the evolving needs of both passenger cars and heavy-duty customers.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
